Source: A criminal docket book for the Guilford Township Justice of the Peace. The cases date from 5 July 1901 through 23 March 1910. This docket book has been digitized and is available online via the Archives section of the Hendricks County government's website (http://www.co.hendricks.in.us).

In an attempt to ease some of the burden on the county courts, Indiana law gave justices of the peace the jurisdiction to settle certain court cases in their respective townships, including misdemeanor criminal cases.
