Index to Delayed Birth Records Issued in Hendricks County (1941-1979)
An index to a book of delayed birth records that were issued in Hendricks County from 5 July 1941 to 31 July 1979. Those people who did not have a birth certificate and who needed to have an official record of their date and place of birth (for example, to apply for Social Security, or to get a marriage license) could petition the Hendricks County circuit court. The applicant did not have to have been born in Hendricks County--they just needed to be a resident of Hendricks County at the time of their application. Women's applications may be under their married name. This index contains the applicant's name, their date of birth, the page number, and a link to the abstract of the delayed birth record that was issued.

A Declaration of Intent was the first step in the process to becoming naturalized, and contained the immigrant's age, native country, place of embarkation, and the date and place of arrival in the United States. A surname index to a volume of Final Oaths for the years 1856 through 1906. A Final Oath was the final step in the process to becoming naturalized. An index to a volume of estrays (livestock that strayed onto someone else's property) for Hendricks County, which covers the years 1831 through 1839. The estray book detailed the livestock's particular markings (as well as its appraised value), the date it was found, the date the estray was recorded, and the name of the person who found it. The index contains the person's first and last name, the date the estray was recorded, and the page number in the book.
