James Henry Noel was born in Kentucky in 1835 and died in Clayton, Indiana in 1920. He lived most of his life in Clayton, married Elizabeth Burns and raised eight children. He served in the Civil War from 2 November 1861 to 31 December 1864. He is buried in Clayton West Cemetery.
