was born in Hendricks county, which he now seeks to represent in the legislature, in 1829. He was raised on a farm and farming has been his principal business through life. He participated in the first organization of the Republican party in this county and has been a straight Republican ever since. He has always been an active political worker and has given of his time and means to the party and has never asked for an office. He has managed his own affairs successfully and with good judgment.
