was born in this county in 1855. His education was begun in the common schools and was finished with Earlham college from which he graduated in 1882. He has taught school three years and when not teaching, was engaged in farming. He was elected county surveyor in 1890 and has been a very acceptable officer. He is a life-long Republican.
