JOHN McCORMICK

is a native of the county, being born in Liberty township Feb. 21st, 1867. His early life was spent on a farm one mile north of Cartersburg. He graduated from the common schools at the age of sixteen. Desirous of having a college education, and being dependent upon his own exertions he worked at whatever he could find to do for two years and at the age of eighteen he entered Franklin college. After leaving this institution he entered the Central Normal, taking the teachers' and law courses. He taught for six winters, studying law in the summers. In 1894 he entered the law department of the University of Indianapolis from which he graduated with high honors. Since then he has been practicing in this county, serving a portion of the time as deputy prosecutor. He has done active and effective work for the party.
