Divorce Notice for William F. Davidson and Lottie Belle Davidson

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, January 15, 1914—page 1, column 2:

MARITAL TROUBLES
New Year Starts with Disclosures of Unhappiness

[…] Lottie Belle Davidson wants a divorce from William F. Davidson. They were married December 11, 1889, and separated December 28, 1913. She alleges cruel treatment in that he would become sullen and morose and for long periods would not speak to plaintiff and when spoken to would refuse to answer, or if he did, he would curse her; that plaintiff has been an invalid and in 1913 underwent an operation and was in the hospital and upon her return home she was nervous and sick and defendant would walk the floor and curse her and threaten violence, and once he choked her; that he would become intoxicated and she had to leave home in the night to get away from him; that her home is her property; that she took in sewing to make a living when defendant had ample means, and when she asked for money he would curse her; that he would leave home for days and would not tell her where he was going, and upon his return would not tell where he had been; that he left December 28 and she has not seen him since; that she has been informed that he converted some $6,000 worth of personal property into money and does not intend to return. Wherefore she wants a divorce.
