Two Disconsolate Wives Tell Sorrowful Stories

After almost 24 years of married life, from April 29, 1906 to January, 1930, Martha A. Davis asks for a divorce from Arthur H. Davis. She alleges cruel and inhuman treatment in that defendant was quarrelsome and indifferent to plaintiff and she was compelled to provide for herself and children; that plaintiff has made her own living and supported her children for five years; that defendant brought his mother into their home in August, 1928 and defendant induced plaintiff to execute a deed to the mother-in-law to the property; that since, the mother-in-law has told plaintiff that plaintiff did not have a home, that plaintiff would have to get out and threatened to put plaintiff out of the house; that defendant told plaintiff he did not love her and wanted her to get a divorce; that plaintiff has taken the abuse of the defendant when plaintiff would come to the house to see the children and the mother-in-law. Two of the children are over the age of 21; that youngest will be 17 in July, 1930 and is making his way.
