Divorce Notice for Charles E. Ellis and Ora E. Ellis

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, January 26, 1905—page 1, columns 4-5:

Sensational Case

Those who disapprove modern easy methods of marrying can find fresh argument in the case of Charles E. Ellis vs. Ora E. Ellis for divorce just filed. The parties live at Belleville and in February, 1900, they were married. She left home one morning as if going to school and he met her in a buggy. They drove to Clayton and took the train for Illinois, where they were married. In the complaint filed he alleges that his wife called him vile names, remained away from home repeatedly and says she does not care for him. Dec. 16, she abandoned him. He charges her with infidelity and alleges that she sustained improper relations with John Breedlove in Belleville in July and August 1903 and with Joseph Hiatt in Indianapolis in September, October, November, December 1904 and January 1905. Wherefore, plaintiff wants a divorce.
