Divorce Notice for Morton Gibbs and Edyth (Gentry) Gibbs

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, June 12, 1913—page 1, column 3:

GIBBS VS. GIBBS

Edyth Gibbs wants a divorce from Morton Gibbs and she sets out a strong complaint. She alleges they were married Dec. 14, 1904 and separated Nov. 11, 1910. She alleges cruel and inhuman treatment in that he applied offensive terms to her and left her alone at night; that he used intoxicating liquor and morphine to excess and when under their influence, he was abusive, that he struck plaintiff and often threatened to kill her. She charges him with infidelity and says he admitted the charge to her. She alleges that if he had husbanded his inheritance, he would be worth $20,000, that he spent the property in riotous living, that when she begged him to save, he would curse her, that when she would refuse to sign mortgages he would abuse her until she had to sign them. She wants an absolute divorce and her maiden name, Edyth Gentry, restored.
