Divorce Notice for N.S. Groover and Minnie Groover

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, August 2, 1917—page 1, column 6:

GROOVER VS. GROOVER

Minnie Groover asks for a divorce from N.S. Groover. They were married Nov. 17, 1915, and separated July 19, 1917. She alleges that he has struck, beat and wounded her, called her vile names and threatened to kill her; that two of his sons by a former marriage live at the house and the defendant has encouraged them to curse and abuse her. She finally quit the house, leaving some household goods and defendant now threatens her [with] bodily violence if she attempts to secure her goods. Plaintiff has a son with whom she will live but she needs the household goods. Plaintiff wants $3,000 alimony. A temporary restraining order was issued, preventing defendant from interfering with plaintiff or her property.
