Divorce Notice for Jediah W. Hussey and Delia Hussey

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, May 14, 1914—page 8, column 3:

HUSSEY VS. HUSSEY

Jediah W. Hussey wants a divorce from Delia Hussey. They were married Sept. 14, 1892, and separated May 12, 1914. Plaintiff alleges cruel and inhuman treatment in that defendant has an ungovernable temper, flying into a rage upon the least provocation and when so irritated, abusing plaintiff with harsh and vile language. He alleges that she entertains a dislike for his relatives, especially his aged and infirm father and plaintiff's sister, Mrs. Dora Brown; that she seems to take pleasure in calling them paupers and vile names; that she has frequently said that the county home was good enough for plaintiff's father, that many persons there were as good as he and that was the place for him; that she would not allow his father and sister to visit him at his home; that she denied him the pleasure of writing to his sister while she was in Florida, refusing to allow him the use of stationery in the house; that defendant found fault with his buying and selling stock, especially when he made a bad deal losing some money, often going into a fit of passion, refusing to speak to plaintiff for more than a week at a time; that she would refuse to announce to him when a meal was ready for serving, she and her son going to the table without saying a word to plaintiff about the meal being ready; that defendant has in his presence on her knees prayed to God to heap upon plaintiff's sister a most terrible punishment; that defendant has threatened to scald plaintiff with hot water and has expressed the wish time and again of the death of this plaintiff and of feeling such malice toward his sister that she could cut out her heart.
