Divorce Notice for Donald Lowe and Lena Lowe

from the Danville Gazette (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, February 21, 1935—page 5, column 1:

WANTS DIVORCE
Mrs. Lena Lowe Charges Husband, Donald Lowe, With Cruelty

Charging that he has threatened to break every bone in her body, Lena Lowe of Eel River township, filed suit in circuit court Tuesday for divorce from Donald Lowe. The complaint alleges that Lowe drank to excess, cursed and abused the plaintiff and that he threatened to burn buildings owned by her father and brother and had also made threats to their lives. Mrs. Lowe charges that although her husband knows that she is expecting a child within thirty days he has made no provision for her care. She alleges that he gave her $20 for necessary expenses during her confinement and later forced her to return the money. Mrs. Lowe seeks custody of their three year old son, payment of $10 per week for support and a restraining order preventing Lowe from disposing of any of his property until the matter is settled. The couple was married March 6, 1930, and separated February 17 of this year.
