Divorce Notice for Temple Mendenhall and Mary E. (Markle) Mendenhall

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, August 2, 1923—page 5, column 3:

SHE WANTS DIVORCE

Mary Mendenhall asks for a divorce from Temple Mendenhall. She recites a store of more or less troubled married life commencing Dec. 21, 1909 and ending about Dec. 31, 1920 when they separated. She filed suit for divorce once before but because of his lavish promises, she went to live with him again. Plaintiff alleges that this second effort was futile, that defendant was cruel and inhuman to her, that he failed to provide, that she had to work in a factory and as a nurse, that he published a notice that he would not be responsible for her debts, that he was quarrelsome, that for three or four years he has provided nothing for her support. She alleges plaintiff is worth $10,000. She wants $100 for her attorney, $500 alimony in lieu of her interest in his real estate and her maiden name—Mary E. Markle. The parties live at Plainfield.
