Divorce Notice for Luther I. Neff and Lottie B. Neff

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, August 24, 1922—page 1, column 2:

CRUEL AND INHUMAN TREATMENT IS ALLEGED

Alleging cruel and inhuman treatment, and familiarity with other women, Lottie B. Neff has filed suit asking divorce from her husband, Luther I. Neff, custody of their three children, Henry, age 18, Arthur, age 14, and Ruth, age 11, and $1,000 alimony. They were married July 3, 1902, and separated June 18, 1922.

Plaintiff alleges that she had been subjected to cruel and inhuman treatment, that defendant has continually nagged and grumbled about the house. Plaintiff alleges that she has had to do manual labor around the house while defendant loafed. She alleges he has had to chop wood, feed stock and milk cows while defendant refused to work, and that defendant would continually grumble because the work was not being done to his fancy.

It is further alleged that defendant has had improper relations with other women, had invited them to the house without consent of plaintiff, and has told plaintiff and children at these times to leave. Because of these actions, plaintiff asserts she has lost love for defendant, has had nervous breakdowns, and her health has been undermined.
