from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, September 6, 1917—page 1, column 3:

THREE DIVORCE SUITS APPEAR IN ONE BUNCH

Two Husbands and One Wife Seek Legal Separation

[…] Ruby Nevitt and Russell Nevitt were married Dec. 31, 1911 and separated Feb. 21, 1917. She alleges cruel and inhuman treatment in that his attitude showed he cared nothing for her; that he refused her his society; that he stayed away late at night; that he gambled and spent most of his earnings that way; that when she asked him for a dress, he said she would have to work for it; that he failed to provide her such clothing that she could wear in society; that he falsely accused her of unfaithfulness; that after being away all night he would say he had been on a big drunk; that she did not know whether the statement was true but that she believes it was made for the purpose of humiliating her and causing her to lose respect for him and force her to leave him.
