from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, July 17, 1913—page 8, column 3:

[Suits Filed]

Della M. Newby vs. David Newby. Divorce. Parties were married Oct. 29, 1894 and separated June 6, 1913. Four children have been born to them. Two daughters are employed in Indianapolis. Two sons are with the father on the farm east of Plainfield. Plaintiff alleges cruel and inhuman treatment in that he falsely accused her of infidelity until out of self respect she left him; that he cursed her, accused her of being lazy; required her to do manual labor; that when the doctor's fill for her treatment came in, defendant would accuse her of not being sick and charged that the doctor's bills were a frame-up. Plaintiff alleges failure to provide clothing and because he did not provide, the girls were cast upon the world to earn their own living. She alleges the property represents their joint earnings and she wants the property rights established in this suit; that she be given half of the personal property and in lieu of her interest in the 40 acres owned jointly he give her $1,000 alimony and pay $100 for her attorneys' fees.
