DIVORCE SUITS FILED BY WIVES AS PLAINTIFFS
Alleged Erring Husband Must Answer In Court

[…] Married June 23, 1917, and separated July 11, 1919, Luvennia Phillips asks for a divorce from Sidney Phillips. She alleges cruel and inhuman treatment, in that he has struck her; has choked her and threatened to kill her; that he has treated her with great coldness, saying he did not love her; that he hated her; that he told her on several occasions to leave the house; that he has falsely accused her of infidelity; that he has refused to provide her with clothing; that he is worth $15,000; that she has no means. Plaintiff wants $20 per week during the pendency of this action, $200 attorney fees and $5,000 alimony.
