Divorce Notice for Kent L. Seaman and Ivy Edna Smith

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, July 4, 1907—page 8, column 4:

Alleges Cruelty

Ivy Edna Seaman, of Plainfield, has filed suit for divorce from Kent L. Seaman. The plaintiff is a daughter of Sanders Smith, of Plainfield, and is well known in Danville, where her girlhood days were spent. She alleges that she and the defendant were married Oct. 2, 1900, and lived together until Dec. 13, 1906, when, while they were living at Noblesville, the defendant ordered her to pack her clothing and take with her what things she wanted and he took her to her father's in Plainfield and then left, going to Texas, she believes. She alleges that he has been guilty of cruel and inhuman treatment in that he neglected her and refused to talk to her, was glum and morose, failed to furnish her society and mental enjoyment and as a result she suffered great pain and became broken in health and spirit. She wants the custody of their five-year old child.
