Charging Sylvester Smoot with failure to provide for her and their minor child, Adelphia Smoot, Plainfield housewife, filed suit for a divorce and custody of the child this week. The couple was married June 1, 1921, and separated November 25, 1946. The plaintiff states that defendant has constantly cursed and bemeaned her, that she has tried to live with him on different occasions after having separated from him before because of his malicious conduct, but because of his attitude she has become unable to endure his abuse.
