Divorce Notice for Rev. William Stogsdill and Hallie M. Stogsdill

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, February 14, 1924—page 1, column 4:

BAPTIST CHURCH MINISTER SEEKING LEGAL SEPARATION

Rev. William Stogsdill says in his complaint for divorce from Hallie M. Stogsdill, that he is an ordained minister of the Primitive Baptist church. He alleges that his wife is guilty of cruel and inhuman treatment in that she has cursed him and called him vile names, that she has told him that she did not love him, that she cared only for his money and that she has that, that she has requested him to get a divorce and has said that she would not live with him, that as a minister he is frequently called to preach and to have charge of funerals, and other services in various parts of the State, that many requests come by mail and that defendant on divers [sic] occasions has opened and concealed his mail, thereby preventing him from making and fulfilling appointments. Plaintiff wants the custody of their three children. Parties were married March 1, 1905, and separated July 6, 1923. Plaintiff lives in Eel River township.
