Divorce Notice for Charles Strader and Goldie Strader

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, April 29, 1915—page 7, column 5:

WANTS DIVORCE

Goldie Strader asks for a divorce from Charles Strader alleging that he has been guilty of cruel and inhuman treatment in that he would leave her and the children at home and not tell where he was going and upon returning home he would not tell where he had been; that he became intoxicated and would curse her and abuse her; that on one occasion he struck her and on another occasion when she started to leave home with her child in the night time, he followed her and with drawn knife compelled her to return with him; that on one occasion he took what he said was carbolic acid to their room and threatened her all night with suicide; that he is an habitual drunkard and fails to make reasonable provision for the support of the family; that she has tried to live with him but she is unable longer to endure life with him. They were married May 29, 1909 and separated April 11, 1915. She asks for support for their two children.
