Divorce Notice for Charles Taylor and Ruth May Taylor

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, March 22, 1917—page 1, column 3:

BROUGHT FROM MISSISSIPPI CHARGE OF CHILD DESERTION

When Charles Taylor left his home in Pittsboro in January, he did not realize all the troubles that were started by his act. A charge of child desertion was filed against him and last week Sheriff Hufford went to Mississippi after him, bringing him back to Danville Thursday evening. He was released on $500 bond. His wife [Ruth May Taylor] then filed a suit against him for divorce. She alleges that they were married Oct. 30, 1915 and he left her Jan. 2, 1917, saying he would never return; that he left her with a baby boy five weeks old and without support, she being dependent upon her own labor and upon the charity of relatives. She asks for the custody of the child and $500 alimony.
