Divorce Notice for Clifford Thompson and Madelyn Thompson

from the Danville Gazette (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, March 28, 1935—page 1, column 3:

Wife Seeks Divorce

Cruel and inhuman treatment is alleged in a complaint for divorce filed Wednesday afternoon by Madelyn Thompson of Stilesville against Clifford Thompson. Chief among the charges made by the wife is that he humiliated her by claiming that their oldest child does not belong to him, a statement which she brands untrue. It is alleged further that the husband earns $24 a week working for a trucking firm and that he is frequently absent from home for two months at a time, giving the plaintiff $10 a week to pay expenses for herself and their two minor children. Mrs. Thompson says in the complaint that the defendant is indifferent to his financial obligations and that in spite of their impoverished condition he still wishes to rear more children. The couple was married July 5, 1932, and separated this month. Mrs. Thompson seeks custody of the children.
