Divorce Notice for Leonard Wade and Mary F. Durham

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, June 19, 1913—page 3, column 6:

DIVORCE WANTED
High Average in Legal Separations Still Continues

Mary F. Wade wants a divorce from Leonard Wade, their wedded life lasting less than three months. They were married March 26, 1912 and separated May 30, 1912. Plaintiff alleges that a few days after the wedding, defendant began to treat her in a cold, disdaneful [sic] manner, refused to accompany her in public places and would remain away from home until late hours of the night; that he falsely represented that it was necessary for him to go to a distant state to get employment and that she should go to her father's until he could get employment; that she went to her father's and in a few days she received a letter from defendant saying he had made a mistake in marrying, that he did not love her and that she had better remain at her father's; that immediately she and her brother went to defendant to ask the cause of such treatment and she requested that they live together and he refused and refused to give any cause; that he told her to return to her father's; that he would think the matter over and write her; that in a few days he wrote her, declining to live with her; that he has refused to provide, has accused her of being indolent; that his statement of seeking employment in another state was false. Wherefore, plaintiff wants a divorce and her maiden name, Mary Durham, restored.
