Divorce Notice for Walker Wright and Opal Wright

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)—issue of Thursday, February 5, 1914—page 1, column 5:

TOO MUCH MOTHER-IN-LAW

Opal Wright asks for a divorce from Walker Wright, alleging that less than four months of married life, such as it was, was sufficient. They were married Jan. 30, 1912, and separated May 29, 1912. She alleges that her husband is guilty of cruel and inhuman treatment in that after their marriage he took her to the home of his mother in North Salem, where her home life was very unpleasant, and whenever any dispute or quarrel occurred between her and her mother-in-law, the defendant would side with his mother and curse and abuse plaintiff and tell her to leave, that he would not give up his mother for any woman; that she often begged him to furnish another home where she could enjoy life in peace, but he refused and told her to go away and stay, that he cared nothing for her; that she left him and went to Crawfordsville and worked in a factory; that since she left him, she has offered to live with him if he would furnish her a home but he cruelly denied her approaches. She asks for a divorce and such alimony as the court may award.
