Son of Delania M. and Minnie A. Johnston; born August 9, 1894, Jackson Township, Putnam County, Ind. Moved to Hendricks County in 1899. Farmer. Entered service September 22, 1917, Danville, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky. Transferred to Camp Logan, Tex. Overseas in May, 1918; assigned to Company D, 131st Infantry, 33rd Division. Died of wounds October 13, 1918, received in action at Consenvoye Woods. Buried in French Cemetery, Glorieux, Verdun Meuse, France.
