Son of Fielding R. and Anna McClain; born November 6, 1892, Lebanon, Boone County, Ind. Moved to Hendricks County, September, 1907. Employe[e] of Pennsylvania Railroad. Enlisted May 12, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo.; assigned to 16th Infantry, 1st Division. Embarked June 14, 1917. Fought in the battle of Cantigny, and was killed in action July 22, 1918, Soissons, France. Buried near where he fell. (Paris and Soissons Road).
