Heart Attack Fatal To Rural Resident

John Jesse Abston, 92 years old, died suddenly of a heart attack Monday afternoon at the home of his son, Floyd Abston, two miles northwest of Darlington. Mr. Abston had been working until a few hours previous to his death.

Born in Kentucky May 10, 1859, he was a son of Jesse and Elizabeth (McCury) Abston and moved from Kentucky to Illinois during the Civil War years by oxen team. He had resided near Fayette in Boone county for 81 years, attended Central Normal college at Danville and for a few years taught school in this county. He attended the Regular Baptist church in Fayette.

He was married in Hendricks county in 1897 to Zinetta Phillips who preceded him in death in 1946.

Besides his son with whom he lived Mr. Abston is survived by a brother, Albert Abston of Lebanon, and four grandsons. A son, two brothers and four sisters are deceased.

Friends may call at the Russell & Hitch funeral home after four o'clock today until noon Thursday when the body will be taken to the Regular Baptist church in Fayette for services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor cemetery.
