Obituary for James Archer

from The Republican (Danville, Hendricks County, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, November 8, 1900--page 1, column 4:

[Pecksburg items]

Died, Nov. 1, of bowel trouble, James Archer aged 40 years. His sickness was of but a few days duration, but he suffered greatly, yet made no complaint. He was the son of Mrs. Lou Archer, whose husband Alexander Archer has been long since dead. He was sorely afflicted, mentally, all his life, yet was inoffensive doing harm to none. He was always ready to help his mother, doing errands for her with accuracy and dispatch. At the last he realized the end had come and expressed a desire for his home in heaven. The funeral services were conducted by R.N. Harvey at the home of his mother Nov. 2, and the interment was at Amo.
