from the Jamestown Press (Jamestown, Boone County, Indiana)--issue of Friday, January 6, 1912--page 1:

SUSAN OYLER BOONE

Susan Oyler Boone was born in Franklin county, VA., April 3rd 1827, and died in Hendricks county, Ind., December 30th 1910 (? Sic) (Should it read 1911?) age 83 years 7 months and 27 days. At the age of 22 years she was married to Benjamin Boone who departed this life Jan. 31st 1873.

To this union were born eight children three of whom are dead and five are living. The surviving children are Orrin L., George H., Magdalene S., Drucilla S. and Sophronia H.

In the year of 1865 she with her husband and children moved from Virginia to Montgomery county, Ind. and after two or three years came to Hendricks county, Ind., where they have since resided. In the year 1878 she united with the German Baptist church of near Ladoga, Ind., where she has ever since been true and faithful member, being situated at a distance so that she was scarcely ever able to attend church, yet she often spoke of her relation with the church with the greatest pleasure. Grandma Boone as she was familiarly know, was a woman of many sterling virtues. To know her was to love her and she numbered her friends even to the entire extent of her acquaintances, always cheerful and happy wit ha good word for everybody and so willing and ready to lend a helping hand in tine of need. She has so endeared herself to the hearts of the people that her memory will be a lasting benediction to all who knew her.

It is the writer’s good fortune to have known her for more than for- score years, so full of richness and blessings has at last rounded to a close with a true and ever faith in the Lord Jesus. XXX
