Obituary for Thomas Edward Bramblett

OLD RESIDENT DEAD

Thomas E. Bramblett, living southwest of Jamestown on the P.M. Lewis farm died Wednesday evening. His death was due to a complication of causes. He had been suffer[ing] of Diabetes for the past few months and this largely contributed to his death.

Mr. Bramblett was a veteran of the Civil War, and was known to all people in this part of the country as a big-hearted, kindly man and a good neighbor.

He is survived by the widow and for sons, William O., of this place; Jesse, of Roachdale; Richard, of Ochelata, Oklahoma; and Clarence, who resides at home.

At the time of going to press arrangements for funeral services could not be learned.

Thomas Edward Bramblett was born in Burbon County, Kentucky, February 12, 1836. He came to Rush County, Ind., with his mother and sisters at an early age and lived in that county until 1891, when he moved to Hendricks Co., Ind. and resided there since until his death, which occurred Jan 10th 1912, he being of aged 75 years to months and 28 days. He was married in 1862 to Sarah A. Springer, of Rush County, Ind., to this union were born five children. William, Perry, Jesse, Cora and Wesley of whom three survive – William O., of James Town, Jesse of Roachdale and Wesley of Texas. The mother, one son, Perry, and the daughter having gone before. His one sister still survives him. Mrs. Ann Payne, of Thorntown, Ind., his mother and older sister * having died some time ago. He was married to Rebecca E. Davis in 1888. To this union was born one son, Clarence, who* with the widow survives him. He enlisted in Co. “D” 68th Ind. Vol. Inft., August 1851 and served until August 1864. He was a member of the G.A.R. at Melroy, Ind., and of the Christian Church at the same place.
