BURNS
BROWNSBURG--Merle E. Burns, 92, died March 20 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. Burns was born Oct. 29, 1906, to Ernest L. and Delilah (Phillips) Burns. Burns was an elementary school teacher for Brown Township, Hendricks County, and Pittsboro schools for 43 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Corinth Church, Pittsboro; founding member of Brown Township Homemaker's Association and member if Indiana State Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include one niece, Barbara Dickey of Brownsburg. Services were March 23 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with the Rev. Dennis Dodson officiating. Burial was at Bethesda Cemetery, Brownsburg.
