TILDEN MAN DEAD
Thos. H. Campbell Died, Saturday, at Indianapolis Hospital

Thos. H. Campbell, aged 72, died at the Long Hospital, at Indianapolis, early Saturday morning, after an illness of two weeks with appendicitis and other complications.

Thomas H. Campbell, sixth child of Thomas C. and Nancy Campbell, was born May 8, 1846, near Danville, Boyle county, Kentucky. He came to Indiana when he was about seven years of age.

He was united in marriage to Rhoda P. Roberts, March 24, 1875. To this union were born eight children: Elmer C. Campbell, of St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Emma Dewey, of Martinsville; Mrs. Neva Merritt, of Brownsburg; David O. Campbell, Marion Campbell, Mrs. Della Dunbar and Mrs. Minnie Jones, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Iva James, of Cincinnati. All survive except Marion, who died in childhood. He is also survived by the wife and thirteen grandchildren; two brothers, David Campbell, of Indianapolis, and C.C. Campbell of Whitestown, and one sister, Mrs. Nancy Johnson, of Flackville.

Mr. Campbell was taken sick on February 1st, at his home, four and one-half miles southwest of Brownsburg, and on the following Tuesday was taken to the Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis. He was operated on for appendicitis and rallied nicely from the operation. He was apparently recovering until Friday evening, when he suddenly became worse. He died at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, 1919, aged 72 years, 9 months and 7 days.

The remains were taken to Brownsburg, Sunday morning, to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Neva Merritt, from whence they were taken Monday morning to Abner's creek church, where short services were conducted by the Rev. John R. Daily of Indianapolis. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining.
