Sept. 24, 1851, she and Newlin Carter were married and they made their home on the Carter homestead two miles southeast of Plainfield until about seven years ago, when they came to Danville. Her happy marriage union was blessed by eight children who have survived to maturity. They are Dr. Amos Carter and Mrs. D.B. Gilbert, of Plainfield; Mrs. Edwin S. Mills, of West Newton; Alonzo J. Carter, of Long Beach, Cal.; Mrs. Townsend Cope, Mord Carter, Caleb Carter and Miss Elma Carter, of Danville. Her grandchildren number seventeen. After services at her late home, the body was taken to Sugar Grove for interment Tuesday.
