Obituary for William T. Conn

from The Republican (Danville, Hendricks County, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, April 11, 1901--page 4, column 2:

William T. Conn, a pioneer, died Saturday of heart disease. He was born in Kentucky, Dec. 6, 1814, and was married to Eusebia N. Garr, April 20, 1837 in Jefferson county, Kentucky. To this union were born nine children, three having passed to the other world, one in infancy and two married daughters—Mrs. Miranda A. Moon and Mrs. Martha E. Wiley. The wife and six children survive him. He joined the Regular Baptist church at Danville in February, 1860 and lived a faithful member, always ready to help in time of need. His home was always open to his brethren and friends. The funeral services were held at the Regular Baptist church, Sunday, conducted by Elders John R. Dailey, of Virginia and P.F. Watkins, of Mont Clair, in the presence of a large concourse of people. The remains were laid to rest in the East cemetery to await the second coming of Christ. His was the first death that had occurred in his own house for sixty years. He had been a resident of Hendricks county since 1853 and had lived at his late home 48 years.
