Obituary for Sarah M.V. (Jenkins) Deatly

from The Republican (Danville, Hendricks County, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, August 30, 1900—page 4, column 5:

[Coatesville items]

Sarah M.V. Deatly, formerly Jenkins, was born May 31, 1859, in Yadkins county, N.C. She with her parents moved to Indiana in 1860, was married to George Deatly, July 7th, 1881 who died several years ago, no children being born to them. Sister Deatly united with the Coatesville Baptist church some 22 or 23 years ago. For years she was a very active, earnest zealous worker devoted to her Master. Sister Deatly departed this life Wednesday evening Aug. 22, 1900, leaving three sisters, one brother and the mother to mourn her loss, three brothers, two sisters and the father having preceded her to the better world. The family, the community and the church all sustain a great loss. During her sickness she was ever submissive to the will of her Master. No word of murmur escaping her lips but talked and sang frequently of her home in heaven. She fell asleep in Jesus dying in the full triumphs of faith leaving bright evidences of being in possession of that sweet peace of God that makes heaven and immortal glory sure. Her funeral was conducted by Rev. J.E. Sherrill, of Danville, and Rev. A.H. Allen, of Rockville.
