Obituary for Julia E. (Shirley) Dillon

Julia E. Dillon died Tuesday morning at her home north of Pittsboro following an extended illness.

She was born in Milledgeville March 13, 1882, the daughter of George C. and Mary E. Shirley. On September 26, 1908, she was married to William Claude Dillon, and they made their home in the Pittsboro community until her death. She was graduated from Lebanon High School and was a teacher in the Boone County schools for a number of years. She was an active member of the Pittsboro Methodist Church and the Pittsboro Study Club.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Pittsboro Methodist Church with the Rev. Clyde Wake officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery. Friends may call today at the Gregory Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

Survivors include the husband, W.C. Dillon; five daughters, Mrs. P.O. Brackney, of Anaheim, Calif.; Mrs. R.W. Church of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. R.H. Tuttle of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mrs. E.T. Fetherolf of Plymouth and Mrs. R.W. Watts of Pittsboro; two brothers, Clem Shirley of Lebanon, and Walter G. Shirley of Jacksonville, Fla.
