Obituary for Nelson Faught

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, September 29, 1904—page 1, column 5:

KILLED HIMSELF
Nelson Faught, Well Known Citizen, Ends Life

Worn by the weight of years and depressed by unfortunate circumstances, Nelson Faught, a well known citizen, committed suicide at Pittsboro Tuesday night. He was stopping at Mrs. Jane Spiklemire's and sometime in the night, he arose and went out into the yard. He placed a revolver against his temple and fired. His lifeless body was found yesterday morning shortly after six o'clock. The hour of the shooting is supposed to be about eleven as some say they heard a muffled shot about that time. His age was eighty years and eight months. He left a note addressed to his son, Homer, who lives north of Pittsboro, giving directions as to the disposal of his property and saying he could do as he pleased with the body. The funeral was yesterday morning with interment in the Sparks cemetery. Mr. Faught at one time was in good circumstances. Unfortunate investments reduced him. A few years ago he sold his last little farm and came to Danville. His first wife died and he married again, his last wife being now in the insane hospital. Two sons and two daughters survive.
