VICTIM OF JAN. 31 TRASH FIRE DIES

Services for Herschel H. Garner, 74, R. R. 1 Brownsburg, were Tuesday at Jones and Matthews funeral home in Brownsburg. He died Sunday at Methodist hospital in Indianapolis from burns suffered in a trash fire at his home Jan. 31 after he tried to start the fire with gasoline, causing an explosion.

The Rev. Bruce Brown officiated at the service. Burial was in Brownsburg cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Esther; one son, Donald Garner of Brownsburg; a brother, Bill Garner also of Brownsburg; a sister, Mrs. Doris Hall of Lafayette; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Herschel H. Garner, age 74, R. R. 1, Brownsburg, died, Sunday, in the Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

A resident of the Brownsburg community the greater part of his lifetime, he was a retired farmer.

Final rites were Tuesday afternoon from the Jones & Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with the Rev. Bruce Brown of the White Lick Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in the Brownsburg Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Esther Garner; one son, Donald E. Garner, Brownsburg; a brother, Otis (Bill) Garner, also of Brownsburg; and one sister, Mrs. Doris Hall, Lafayette; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
