CONVICT DIES
Luther Haggard, Sent Three Times From County, Free At Last

Luther Haggard, age 50, of near Amo, sentenced from this county for a term of one to five years for petit larceny, died at the State prison at Michigan City Wednesday morning of gangrene of the bladder.

Haggard was sentenced May 18 for stealing a watch and articles of clothing from the home of W.E. Christie on the Amo-Danville road. He plead guilty to the charge. He had served time in state penal institutions two previous times on complaints made by Christie, the first thirty years ago when he was accused of stealing $3.00 in cash and the second time in 1916, when he was found guilty of setting fire to Christie's barn, destroying it and burning to death some valuable horses.
