Obituary for Michael Higgins

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, April 28, 1904—page 1, column 6:

Michael Higgins, an esteemed and highly respected citizen of this county, died Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.W. Kellum. The funeral was Sunday from his late home conducted by Rev. Brattin with interment in the south cemetery at Danville. Mr. Higgins was born in Putnam county near Belle Union, August 5, 1823. Practically all of his life was spent in Hendricks county except three years when he lived in Montgomery county. He was married to Elizabeth Plasters, of this county, who departed this life August 15, 1883. To them were born six children, all of whom are living—William, David, Mrs. Mary J. Wilson, Mrs. Henry Hunt, Charles Higgins and Mrs. A.W. Kellum. Mr. Higgins was a sincere member of the Christian church and had been since 1885. Injuries received in a fall two weeks ago undoubtedly hastened his death, enfeebled as he was by the weight of years.
