Effie Blair Hornaday

Mrs. Effie Blair Hornaday, former resident of Danville, died suddenly, Wednesday of last week, at her home in Seattle, Wash., at the age of 86 years.

She was a native of Hendricks County. A graduate of Indiana State Teachers College at Terre Haute, she taught school prior to her marriage to Charles P. Hornaday. He was a former merchant and realtor in Hendricks County and died in 1940. Following his death she moved to Seattle to make her home.

She was a member of the Danville Chapter 39 of the Order of Eastern Star and the Methodist Church in Seattle.

Services were Saturday in the Forkner Funeral Home, Seattle, with interment in the Acacia Memorial Park, there.

She is survived by two sons, Howard B. and Charles P. Hornaday Jr., both of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Jack Sampson; also of Seattle, and Mrs. Josephine Pearson, of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Mary E. Woodward, of Greenfield; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
