Obituary for Peter Hulsizer

from the Lebanon Pioneer (Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana)--issue of February 8, 1923

Peter Hulsizer

Another of Boone county pioneer citizens passed to that land of the blest with the departure from this life of Peter Hulsizer at the home of the only child, Henry Hulsizer, near Zionsville, at 11 o'clock a.m. Feb. 3, 1923.

The deceased was born in New Jersey the 31st day of July in 1834. He was the eldest son of Andrew and Nancy Hulsizer.

There is one brother, Thomas Hulsizer, of Indianapolis, and a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Slater, of near Kirklin, left of the family of seventeen.

At the age of seventeen he emigrated into Ohio with his parents and the remainder of the family, who made the trip thru the wilds in a one-horse wagon where they lived for a few years and then came to Brownsburg, Hendricks county, Indiana. At the age of 25 years he united in marriage with Julia Ann Phillips, of the same community. Shortly after their marriage they both united with the Missionary Baptist church at Bethesdia and lived a faithful Christian life together until February 14, 1918, when the wife was called home. Besides those mentioned there are two grandchildren and three great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn their loss.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Preston Smith at the Mt. Tabor church in Fayette and the burial in the Watson cemetery.
