Obituary for Daniel B. Kelleher

from The Republican (Danville, Hendricks County, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, September 6, 1900—page 8, column 4:

Death of Daniel B. Kelleher

Daniel B. Kelleher departed this life Thursday evening. His immediate death was not expected and the end came suddenly from nervous exhaustion. He was in his fifty-fourth year and was born April 4, 1847 in Lawrence, New York. Since he was a small boy his home has been in this vicinity. In the war for the Union he volunteered three times—in the 117th, 132nd and 156th. The terrible exposure endured by the 117th regiment left its mark on him and he was never rugged. His wife, who survives, was Miss Mary Comingore. To them were born five children, four of whom are living—Guy, Louise, Lillian and Lora. Mr. Kelleher was always a kind husband and father. The funeral was Saturday afternoon from his late home, the services being conducted by Rev. W.F. Switzer. The members of the G.A.R. and Co. K, 2nd regiment followed the remains to the cemetery where they were laid to rest with the honors of war. Mr. Kelleher was a member of Danville's old band and the organizer of what is now known as the old band. The remnant of this organization led the procession to the grave.
