Obituary for Robert Landon

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana)--issue of Thursday, May 9, 1912—page 1, column 4:

ENDS LIFE

Robert Landon, age 29, son of Azor Landon, committed suicide yesterday afternoon at his home on North Tennessee street by shooting himself. No cause is known for the deed. There is a rumor going the rounds that a love affair was responsible. His mother had gone up town on an errand and his father was out in the yard. Landon took a revolver—a 32—and went into the yard. Two shells failed to explode but the third one did. The bullet entered above the right ear and Landon fell lifeless. The gun was held so close to his head that there were no powder burns. Coroner Allred's verdict will probably be temporary insanity.
