Obituary for Everette G. Phillips

Everette G. Phillips, 89, of West County Line Road died on Tuesday of last week at Clarks Creek Health Care Center in Plainfield, where he had resided for four years. He had been ill for five years.

The son of Albert A. and Mary Alice Turley Phillips, he was born on June 9, 1896, in Hendricks County. He married Opal Jean Atkinson on September 3, 1916, and she died on May 12, 1971.

A farmer in the Hendricks County and Plainfield areas most of his life, he was a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are four sons, James of Mooresville, Thomas of Tampa, Fla., Joseph of Fayetteville, N.C., and Harry Phillips of Long View, Tex.; three daughters, Lois Hoffman of Morristown, Betty Kudla of Plainfield and Margaret Corya of Indianapolis; a sister, Estelle Phillips of Indianapolis; 20 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Another son, George Phillips, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were Friday afternoon at Carlisle and Son Chapel. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Plainfield.
