Obituary for Paul L. Phillips

Paul L. Phillips, age 63, Clayton, died suddenly at his home, there, May 14. Services are today, 10:30 a.m. at the Weaver Funeral Home, Clayton, with Rev. Faris Franz officiating. Burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery.

Mr. Phillips was employed as a postal transportation clerk at Indianapolis from 1939 until his retirement in 1975. Prior to that he was employed at the Quaker Maid Food Company at Terre Haute. He was born Nov. 23, 1915 in Hymera. He was married, June 18, 1937 to Arethea Stahl. He graduated from Wiley Terre Haute High School in 1934 and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Scout Master and Cub Master at Clayton for 13 years and during this time 17 boys achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Clayton United Presbyterian Church, Cascade Lions Club, Retired Postal Clerks organization, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Surviving with the widow, Arethea, are sons, Robert L. and James R., both of Clayton; daughter, Nancy Welsch of Columbus; eight grandchildren; brother, Lawrence of Oaklandon, and sister, Mrs. Geneva Kellett of Terre Haute.
