VIRGINIA L. PHILLIPS

Virginia L. Phillips, 80, Independence, MO., passed away Friday, February 13, 2004, at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2004, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 15 at the chapel. Burial will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery.

Virginia was born March 10, 1923, in Pittsfield, IL, to William Ira and Lucy Louisa ( Turner ) Fleeharty. Mrs. Phillips was the Worship Center Coordinator at the South Crysler Restoration Branch Church. She was a secretary in the Independence School District from 1964 until 1975 at William Southern and Alton Elementary Schools. Mrs. Phillips is survived by three sons, Mike and Helen Phillips of Lee's Summit, MO., Douglas and Joyce Phillips, of Lone Jack, MO., and David and Betty Phillips, of Independence, MO.; sister, Bernice Holmes of Independence, MO; four granddaughters; four grandsons; seven great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Merrill in 1995, and was so thankful for her church family who sustained her life even greater after his death. (Arr. Speaks Suburban Chapel )
