WOMAN KILLS SELF BECAUSE OF HEALTH

Husband Finds Lifeless Body on Floor of Home

Worried because if ill health, Mrs. George B. Pierson shot herself, dying instantly, at her home, east of Maplewood, Tuesday morning. Her husband, coming home from work, found her lifeless body on the floor of their home, a single-barrel shot gun lying beside her. On the table was a box of shells. Mrs. Pierson glasses were still in position on her face and for all the casual observer could have told she might have been asleep.

Mrs. Pierson had been about her usual duties in the early morning hours. A milk-man had just been at her door and left a check for milk with her. This check was found in her purse. Soon afterwards, she took the gun which was empty, placed a shell in it, planted the muzzle against her left groin and with a stick, pushed the trigger. She fell dead. The load was expended in her body and there was little loss of blood.

Several months ago, Mrs. Pierson underwent a serious operation. She complained of pains which caused her to fear that she would never be well. She was 63 years of age and is survived by her husband and several grown children. Her maiden name was Rutledge.
